Digital portraits using three different brushes, created in 2023.

This project required me to illustrate three different portraits using original brushes created in photoshop. Using a digital drawing tablet, I was able to create designs to make three, unique paintbrushes. For each portrait I decided to illustrate three of my favorite music artists using contrasting styles and textures. The first portrait on the left shows the rapper Snoop Dogg using a thick brush that varies in width, allowing me to emphasize small details. The second image on the right shows the rapper Biggie Smalls. I chose to illustrate him using a splattered paint brush. I attempted to replicate spray paint reflecting Biggie’s urban aesthetic. The third portrait features the music artist Nas. I drew him using a soft and smooth brush which is consistent in width. Although it was harder to incorporate a lot of detail using this brush, using light and dark shades of blue I was able to create a sense of depth and perspective.
